Spacious villa with ’one million dollar view’ over the Algarve

The stunning views from here across the Algarve to the Atlantic Ocean are breath-taking. You can not imagine something more impressive or enchanting. It’s love at first sight. The private villa, which is now operated as a successful B&B, is easily accessible and is less than 10 minutes drive from the charming village of Monchique. The villa itself has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. In addition to, but separate from the villa, is the former garage that has been converted into a studio apartment. The plot of 5000 m2 is fully accessible and furnished with a colourful garden with a spacious pool and beautiful terraces on different levels. Solar panels and the efficient fireplace in the living room provide hot water and central heating, which is especially valuable in the colder winter months. In this villa you can live all year round and it is a privilege to enjoy this place where the view continues to fascinate day and night with family and friends.
The entrance
The villa stands at an altitude of about 650 m, 250 m below the top of the Foia peak. A good asphalted road leads you onto the spacious parking area, from where you immediately notice the beautiful view over the roof of the villa. The access to the villa is on the south side with the terraces, the garden with the lawn and the swimming pool. From the villa, which is flanked by tall trees offering complete privacy, you look down over rolling hills that are cut by rivers meandering to the coast at the Atlantic Ocean.

The villa
In the middle of the villa are the (for the B & B communal) living room, the fully equipped kitchen, the guest toilet, an office corner and the actual entrance which is now in use as a massage room, storage and laundry room. The spacious living room with a sitting and dining area has a cosy warm fireplace. Here is the access to 2 spacious guest rooms with their own bathrooms. On the other side of the living room and the actual entrance are two very complete apartments each with a bedroom, bathroom, spacious living room with cosy wood stove, a kitchenette and sliding doors to the partly covered terrace. Above these apartments there are 2 guest rooms that can be reached via the beautifully shaped outdoor staircase and front terrace. One guest room has 1 bedroom and the other has 2 bedrooms. They also have a cosy living room, a private bathroom and sliding doors to the terrace with the fabulous view. All rooms have central heating.

The studio apartment
Next to the villa, separated by a walkway, is the original garage that has been converted into a residential studio of approximately 36 m2 with a wonderful effective woodburner, a kitchenette and a bathroom. The current owners and operators of the B & B live here when the B&B is open for guests.

The garden with special places
In front of the villa is the swimming pool of 5m x 10m and the lawn, bordered by a colourful display of flowers, continuing to the foremost tip at this level with the iconic view over the Algarve. At the side of the lawn is a pavilion with a circular bench and in the middle a beautiful plateau with a water feature. This is an outstanding location for profound, pleasant and/or exuberant conversations. A large cloth, a shade, provides both a place in the sun or in the shade. Next to the tip of the lawn, a stone staircase leads to a large enclosed terrace of approximately 60 m2 that is also covered with a shade. At some distance and out of sight you find a large jacuzzi. Especially in the evening you may enjoy the best possible view with the starry sky and illuminated coastline of the Algarve endlessly. On a slightly lower terrace is a completely private sun bathing area. Also special are the so-called "Petertjes" on the rocky part of the property, built over the years by guests of the B & B. Recently, a brand new (in principle mobile) chalet has been placed at another private place on the land.

The technical condition
In the more than 10 years that the B & B exists, every year, especially during the 4 months winter closure, the villa and the garden are maintained, improved and renewed. The technical condition is therefore very good. The water and energy supply is organised well and efficiently. There is a water source with pure water that is further purified with UV filters for drinking water. The hot water for the bathrooms and in the winter also for the central heating is heated by solar panels and in case of a less sunny period supported by the fireplace in the living room. All rooms have central heating. And all windows have double glazing.

About Monchique
From the cosy village of Monchique to the villa there are several nice restaurants along the way with a variety of specialties. Due to the abundant underground water supply and the mild climate on the southern slopes of Serra de Monchique, exotic plants and trees thrive throughout the year. It is the reason why this area is also called The Garden of the Algarve. Monchique is a social meeting place for people who live across the mountains with cafes and restaurants with mostly traditional Portuguese dishes. There is a municipal swimming pool, a health centre and many activities and festivals are organized throughout the year. A large supermarket will give you the extended opening hours when this is convenient.
More and more tourists spend their holidays every year in this beautiful nature reserve. Every day other activities can be undertaken, such as endless walks through nature, trekking on foot or mountain bike from place to place, canoeing on one of the lakes, paragliding over the hills or a day to the sunny beaches of the Algarve the south or west coast.
The south coast with beautiful beaches and impressive rock formations and the somewhat rougher west coast are about 35 minutes drive away.
